Party on The Lift
December 1, 2016
A party was held at The Peak in Winter Park to celebrate the new Lift transit system and buses. The event brought in around 50-60 people with others that happened to be at the bar joining in the celebration.
There were two buses parked outside the Peak: one was the new Lift bus with newly designed graphics, and the other was the infamous gray school bus that formally was Winter Park’s transit system. The symbolism seemed to reflect the “out with the old, in with the new” mentality of the transit system.
The event included free appetizers, drinks, and giveaways. Representatives from both Fraser and Winter Park were in attendant, along with the Winter Park/ Fraser Chamber, and representatives from Winter Park Resort.
Transit Manager Michael Koch addressed the crowd to thank everyone for all their hard work and support throughout the difficult process and learning opportunities that has been the conception of the new transit system.
The news buses are equipped with more room for skis, racks for bikes, and are ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) accessible.
The new buses are equipped with a GPS tracking system through the mobile app RideHop. Using the app you can track the exact location of the bus to know the precise time you need to be at the bus stop without having to stand in the cold for an unnecessary amount of time. To find the Winter Park transit system on the app, type in the code “lift.”
