Pipe bomb found at Vail-area campground

VAIL VALLEY, Colorado ” A pipe bomb was disabled by a bomb squad Tuesday evening in a part of the Vail Valley popular with campers.
A man picking up trash at about mile 5 of the Homestake Access Road Sunday told authorities he picked up a metal pipe, realized it might be a bomb and threw it in the water. The U.S. Forest Service notified the Eagle County Sheriff’s around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The Jefferson County Bomb Squad responded, found the pipe bomb in the water and disabled it.
The Forest Service says they received a report about two years ago that someone blowing up beaver dams in the same area, which is between Red Cliff and Leadville.
