Police say Boulder attacks may have been hate crimes

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) – Boulder police are looking for a man suspected of assaulting two other men because they were of Middle Eastern descent.

Police say the man assaulted two men inside a downtown Boulder bar early Thursday and attacked one of the men again outside the bar. Police say during the attacks, the suspect made remarks related to the victims’ ethnicity.

The victims are 19 and 20 and believed to be University of Colorado students.

The suspect is described as about 6 feet, 3 inches tall, 230 to 240 pounds with curly brown hair and blue eyes. Police say he was wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.

Officers also want to talk to a man who was with the suspect and might have seen the assaults. They say he’s not a suspect.
