Purple Line to remain unchanged

The Winter Park Transit Advisory Committee (TAC) has recommended that the Lift’s Purple Line continue as scheduled for the remainder of the winter season. The Purple Line will be re-evaluated at the second TAC meeting in May.

The Purple Line services Safeway, The Timbers, Meadowridge Clubhouse, Wapiti and Twin Rivers during weekdays. On weekends and holidays the line offers half-hour service to Winter Park Resort throughout the morning and afternoon and continues to its normal and late-night schedule until 2:25 a.m.

The TAC had received complaints from riders that the transfer required at Cooper Creek Square to get to Winter Park Resort during weekdays is inconvenient and takes extra time. Other riders said they felt the Black Line doubles over the Purple Line service after leaving Safeway traveling towards the resort. The concerned riders requested that the Purple Line operate its weekend and holiday schedule during weekdays on an hourly basis so they could travel to the resort conveniently Monday-Friday.

Winter Park Town Manager Drew Nelson said the decision to keep the bus route as-is was made so the TAC can have an entire ski season’s worth of data to base decisions off of in the spring.
