Report of man loading gun by Summit High School sparks suspicion

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (AP) – The report of a man loading a gun inside a pickup truck in a parking lot at Summit High School prompted the lock-down of schools in the mountain community and a search for the vehicle.

Two students said they saw a man Monday loading ammunition for a rifle . They said a woman then left the school in Breckenridge and got into the truck, which drove away. It wasn’t clear if she was a student.

Surveillance video at the school showed a truck with a red air compressor in the back, but the license plate wasn’t visible.

Summit County sheriff’s deputies didn’t find the truck.

School district officials provided extra surveillance for after-school activities and some activities were canceled.
