Shortage of seasonal flu vaccine cancels clinics in parts of Colorado

DENVER (AP) – Plans to give out flu shots at nearly 450 clinics around Colorado have been canceled or postponed because of a shortage of seasonal flu vaccine.

Organizers say that’s because of high demand for flu shots and because manufacturers have been focused on making vaccine to fight swine flu.

The clinics affected by the shortage were set to be held in office buildings, schools and churches.

Stores including Target and Walgreens are also dispensing shots and say they still have some vaccine left.

The first doses of vaccine to fight the swine flu are expected to arrive in Colorado this week. They will be given to health care workers.
