Bourgoin, Oxley, Riemenschneider race this week in Vail

Three local ski racers will be competing in the 2016 USSA U16 Junior Alpine Championships held in Vail, CO, March 12-17. Thirty-three boys from the Rocky Mountain region were invited to these championships based on the results of five qualifying events. They will be racing in Downhill, Super G, Giant Slalom and Slalom.

Frazier Bourgoin, 15, has been with the Winter Park Competition Center full-time academy for two years. He lives in Winter Park with his family for the winter season and in his hometown of Newtonville, MA, the rest of the year. He is in 10th grade at Middle Park High School.

Nelson Oxley, 15, joined the Winter Park Competition Center as an 8 year-old. Last year, his family moved to Tabernash from Denver and gave him the opportunity to participate in the full-time academy for the past two years. Nelson is in 9th grade at Middle Park High School. When not skiing, he enjoys mountain biking and hiking the mountains of Grand County. His father, Jeff Oxley, grew up racing for the Winter Park Competition Center and has been a weekend coach there for 8 years.

Noah Riemenschneider, 14, was born and raised in Winter Park where he learned to ski and hone his racing skills. Noah is in 9th grade at an online school. His passion for racing started when he joined the Winter Park Competition Center at the age of 7 and his love of racing keeps him working hard on and off the slopes.

Winter Park Competition Center Alpine Program Director Mike Bowman and Coach Dan Bell will be coaching these boys and five other athletes at this event.
