Granby " East Grand Middle School track team posts strong results at Steamboat

East Grand Middle School’s track and field athletes picked up major wins in the team competitions during the Steamboat Springs Invitational on Saturday, May 3.

The Cubs won three first-places and one runner-up spot in the seventh and eight grade team competitions. Many personal records as well as two school records were set.

“This is the first time we have scored this high with all of our teams,” said coach Jim Karas. “We have strong teams in all grade levels. I am very proud of them.”

Seventh grade girls

East Grand’s seventh grade girls were victorious in their nine-team competition, earning 94 points. Their closest rival was Steamboat Springs with 80. Third place went to Meeker with 76.

Eighth grade girls

East Grand’s eighth grade girls team finished as the runner-up with 84 points in their nine-team competition. First place was won by Hayden with 98 points. Third place went to West Grand with 76.

East Grand’s seventh grade boys team powered to victory in its nine-team competition, outscoring all the other teams by a wide margin with 104 points. Second place went to Soroco with 74 points while Craig finished third with 65.
