December 4, 2008
Stand up, stomp and shout because another exciting season of Middle Park High’s girls basketball is about to begin.
The Lady Panthers open their 2008-09 season at the Meeker Tournament this Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 4-6.
“This will be our first time going to the Meeker Tournament, so it will be a fresh way to start off our season,” said coach Cheri Amos. “We’re ready to play basketball and shoot some hoops.”
The Lady Panthers are also entering the new season in a new league, the Frontier League. For years, the team competed in the Metro League, which was dominated by private schools.
“We are in Frontier’s Western League, which has six teams,” Amos said. “It’s great that we’ll now be competing against mostly other public high schools that are similar to us.”
Another upbeat factor for the Lady Panthers this season is that it has a large roster of 28 players. Those playing on its varsity, junior varsity and C-Squad teams are:
