HTA trail work: Knight Ridge

Sky-Hi News Staff Report

Headwaters Trails Alliance is co-hosting a trail event this coming weekend with the Contenental Divide Trail Coalition (CDTC) on Knight Ridge.

The group will be working on the tread in the area where there was a blow down. Last year about 800 trees were cleared from the trail with the help of several crews, and about another 100 that fell across the trail by the Forest Service trail crew.

The HTA trail group is heading out to the trail on Saturday, June 16 with the CDTC to work on the tread and clearing the corridor where new growth is taking over the trail. They will also be working on drainages in some wet areas along the trial.

HTA is seeking interested people to volunteer on this project. Meet at 9 a.m. at the trailhead in the Roaring Fork Campground at the end of County Road 6 and Arapaho Bay Road.

Meals will be provided by Backpacker Pantry. All volunteers need to bring plenty of water and snacks. Hard hats, tools and gloves will also be provided.
