Mountain bike season gears down
September 22, 2016
Sunday, September 25 marks the last day of the season for Trestle Bike Park. As we round the corner into fall many people switch their focus from berm turns to jump turns, but there is still plenty of fun to be had in the Mountain Bike Capital.
The Hops and Handlebars event will take place on Saturday, September 24 in front of the Derailer Bar at Winter Park Resort. There will be New Belgium beer, music, food, competitions, and prizes as riders close out the downhill season and transition into ski season. Events will take place from 3 to 6 p.m.
Trestle had a good season and saw many riders from all over the country.
“Summers in the mountains are pretty short so it’s important to make them count,“ said Winter Park Resort Director of Public Relations and Communications Steve Hulbert.
“We enjoyed a busy, successful season throughout the resort, including Trestle Bike Park. From an incredibly exciting Colorado Freeride Festival to opening new Backside Trestle trails earlier this month. There has been a lot going on in the bike park all summer long and we’re already excited for what next year will bring.”
Bike Granby Ranch’s last day will be Sunday, October 2. Granby is open Friday – Sunday with the exception of September 24-25 when they will be closed for the High School Cycling League Race, the “Granby Ranch Roundup.”
The Middle Park High School mountain bike team will race Saturday, September 24 and would love community support. The race organizers are still looking for volunteers. Volunteer shifts range from one hour long and up, and MPHS students can earn community service hours. You can sign up to volunteer at coloradomtb.org.
