Respite care camps for winter adventures
December 29, 2015
Everybody needs a break! At National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) we offer that break to family caregivers by providing fun, unique experiences for special needs individuals. NSCD has partnered with Colorado Respite Coalition to expand the opportunities available for families looking for respite care options. The NSCD offers a variety of year-around sports and recreational adventures. In the winter participants enjoy alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, Nordic hut trips, snowshoeing and ski racing.
The Colorado Respite Coalition is a group of families and community partners that have joined together to support Colorado families who are caring for individual of all ages with special needs. Respite care provides temporary relief for family caregivers from the ongoing responsibility of caring for an individual of any age with special needs. Respite care is the most frequently requested family service and has been shown to provide family caregivers with the relief to maintain their own health, bolster family stability and delay more costly nursing home or foster care placements. NSCD is proud to be listed on the Colorado Respite Coalition website as a current care provider.
For the first time ever, NSCD will offer a four-day winter camp, Feb. 1-4, 2016, for adults (18 and over) promoting independence and camaraderie. Campers will laugh and learn while nordic skiing, alpine skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating and participating in other fun winter activities.
For eligible campers, all fees will be covered by the Colorado Respite Coalition Grant. For more information regarding funding or to register contact NSCD at 970-726-1518 or email@example.com Hurry, there are only a few spots left for this fun-filled camp!
