Ski Granby Ranch opens Saturday

Ski Granby Ranch purchased a number of new snowguns this winter to assist with their snow making operations. The mountain resort opens for the winter ski season this Saturday Dec. 17. If you're out on the hill and take pictures for social media please post them with the hashtag #ExploreGrand.

Grab you ski boots folks and head on down to Ski Granby Ranch this weekend as Granby's local ski hill opens for the winter.

The ticket offices at Granby Ranch will open at 8 a.m. Saturday morning Dec. 17. The mountain's lifts will start turning at 9 a.m. As of Thursday afternoon Ski Granby Ranch planned to open 90 percent of the east mountain at the resort including the three lifts on the east mountain: Quick Draw Express, Kicking Horse and Milestone, which services the beginner bunny hill.

Representatives from Ski Granby Ranch said the resort plans to open the west mountain later this season with the opening dependent upon snowfall. The amount of territory that will be open this weekend at Ski Granby Ranch will also be weather dependent, but if the recent trend in heavy snowfall continues more of the mountain could open in the near future.

Night skiing at Ski Granby Ranch is scheduled begin Dec. 26 and run through Dec. 30, a period of time the resort calls Winter Wonderland Week. Night skiing will begin again on Jan. 6 and go through March 25.

The crew at Ski Granby Ranch has been very busy during the shoulder season preparing for the winter. The Ranch acquired six new snow guns, also known as snow making machines, and a new snowcat this year and have added additional shifts to their trail grooming schedule to expand both their grooming and snow making capabilities.
