Snowmobile Poker Run set for Saturday
March 17, 2016
Grab your sleds and head on down to Kremmling this Saturday for the 9th Annual Snowmobile Poker Run.
The Grand Prize for this year's poker run will be a guided backcountry tour with world famous snowmobiler and Kremmling homeowner Chris Burandt. The event will be held on Saturday March 19 and is being hosted by Peak Ranch, located at mile marker 163 on US Highway 40. The snowmobile poker run is presented by the Middle Park Fair & Rodeo. The cost to participate is $10 per hard or $50 for six hands.
Registration for the poker run will be held from 9 a.m. to noon with awards and prizes distributed after the event at the Rocky Mountain Bar and Grill at 4 p.m.
The winner of the Poker Run this year will enjoy a special treat, a guided one-day backcountry tour with Chris Burandt. Burandt will take the winner on a tour of the Cottonwood Pass area just west of Buena Vista.
Burandt is one of, if not, the world's premier backcountry snowmobiler. Along with two medal finishes in snowmobiling at the X Games Burandt's fame in the snowmobiling world comes from a series of snowmobiling films he regularly appears in titled "Slednecks" and "509".
Burandt lived and operated out of Kremmling for many years before moving to a larger facility near Buena Vista with access to a larger backcountry riding area. "I still have a house in Kremmling and love Grand County," Burandt said. "This is just a great way to support riding up there and it's just cool to be a part of it."
