Winter Park Resort will hold its annual Springtopia event this weekend, featuring live music and the Coca-Cola Spring Splash.

The festivities will draw to a close what has been a phenomenal 75th anniversary season for the resort, said Steve Hurlbert, Winter Park Resort's communication director.

"It seems like one of those years where the planets have aligned for us a little bit," Hurlbert said. "When we look back on our 75th anniversary season, we'll look at it as one of the best we've ever had at Winter Park Resort."

Hurlbert cited the opening of the new Lunch Rock facility, the Sunspot Gala and the resurrection of the Ski Train as reasons to celebrate the season this weekend.

The resort will host free a live concert from the Wallflowers, as well as live music from local favorites like Rob Drabkin and the Rick Lewis Project, on Saturday, April 25.

Purchase of a $75 VIP ticket includes a meet-and-greet with Jakob Dylan, as well as two drink vouchers, appetizers and access to a special viewing area.

Then, Winter Park Resort will hold the Coca-Cola Spring Splash at noon on Sunday, April 26.

Participants will navigate a short obstacle course before launching themselves across a small pond, all the while dressed in their best costumes.

Cash prizes are awarded for the fastest time, with bonus points awarded for most original costume.

"People are definitely encouraged to dress up," Hurlbert said.

First held as Gelendesplash in 1968, the spring splash at Winter Park Resort is the oldest pond skim competition in Colorado.

The resort only accepts around 100 participants, so competitors are encouraged to register early as it fills up quickly.
