July 22, 2014
WINTER PARK – With some last-minute touches to trails and courses this week, Winter Park Resort is ready to welcome the world to the 2014 Colorado Freeride Festival, beginning this Thursday, July 24, and continuing through Sunday, July 27.
The largest event of its kind in the United States, the Colorado Freeride Festival features nearly 900 athletes representing more than 20 different countries competing in five mountain bike disciplines; Specialized Enduro, Epic Singletrack Cross-Country, Air Downhill, Slopestyle, and Intergalactic Pond Crossing. The four-day festival is the only U.S. stop for the Enduro World Series, which will bring in all of the top Enduro riders from throughout the world, including top-ranked men's riders, Jared Graves (Australia), Damien Oton (France), and Nico Lau (France). On the women's side, Great Britain's Tracy Moseley returns to defend her 2013 Colorado Freeride Festival Enduro title against tough challengers Anne Caroline Chausson and Cecile Ravanel, both of France.
The Colorado Freeride Festival is also home to the only Gold Level Slopestyle competition in the country on the FMB World Tour and will once again feature the world's top riders in one of the most eagerly-anticipated events in the competition. Sweden's Martin Soderstrom, who enters the week ranked third in the world, will be back to defend his 2013 Colorado Freeride Festival Slopestyle crown amidst a crowded field of the world's best.
All events are free for spectators and the Village at Winter Park Resort will also be home to free family activities at the Family Bike Fest, including bike decorating for the kids, Pump Track Jam, athlete meet-and-greets, as well as a stunt show involving a professional rider.
Trestle Bike Park will be open throughout the festival to recreational riders, giving visitors a chance to ride with the professionals at the nation's premier mountain bike park.
