Supportive community transformed preschool
October 5, 2010
What a wonderful, supportive community we have. We were the fortunate recipients of a grant from the Sprout Foundation, which made it possible for us to repave a torn-up parking lot and replace nine old windows at our preschool. Our new blacktop covered tripping hazards, along with potholes and potential muddy messes. As a bonus, we now have a smooth clean area for the children to ride bikes, scooters and tricycles.
Our old, drafty windows did not open and often held in condensation so the children could not see out. The new energy-efficient windows have screens so we are now able to bring in the fresh air. Through the generosity of Legacy Building Specialties Inc. two workers installed our windows with the help of preschool parent Scott Pierce of Condominium Management Company. More volunteers came to frame-in the windows and complete the project. A huge thank you is extended to Dwayne Beckley, Justin White and Robb Rankin.
It took a community of volunteers to do the initial renovation of the preschool, and committed individuals continue to believe in us and support us financially or with time and energy. We thank the Sprout Foundation again, and the countless others who have helped transform our building into a vibrant facility for our county’s young children.
