Frustrated golfers waiting for winter to end will get some relief on Saturday as the Grand Elk Golf Club and Marina hosts its Second Annual Lake Granby Ice Golf Classic.

During this fun event, the golfers will play nine holes of golf on the ice of Lake Granby. It starts Saturday at 10 a.m. on the lake in front of the Grand Elk Marina.

The golfers will be playing the nine holes that are drilled in the ice. They will be using golf clubs and tennis balls during the tournament. Snow will be plowed from the “fairways” and “greens” for the event.

Under the rules of the competition, each golfer will use only two clubs and a putter. Players must use only a tennis ball provided by the event coordinator.

Saturday’s tournament rules dictate that players must remain within the course boundaries at all times. Players will be fined one stroke for balls that go off the fairways. Players must also play their ball where it lies.

All participants must walk the course unless granted special permission.

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: hole-in-one, longest drive, high individual, best dressed, best team score and best individual score.

The fees for Saturday’s golf tournament are $30 per person or $120 per team. Lunch will be provided.
