Teen Views: The Dead Tour ’09
January 26, 2009
On New Year’s Day, The Dead, (formerly Grateful Dead), announced a tour of several U.S. cities this spring, including Denver. The band will consist of four original Grateful Dead members, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart. Warren Haynes will play on guitar, (Gov’t Mule, Allman Brothers), and on keyboard, RatDog’s Jeff Chimenti. This is sure to be an epic event.
The first thing that comes to most minds regarding this tour is, “It’s not the same without Jerry.” That is an undeniably true fact. Nearly 14 years after Jerry Garcia’s death, his soul lives on as strong as ever, and 2009 is the perfect time for a Dead show. It’s the closest younger generations of Grateful Dead fans can come to experience the historic ground works of today’s jam band scene. We owe it to The Dead to attend this show. As for the true veteran DeadHeads, I hope to see you there, too.
In a recent video released directly from the band, Bob Weir said, “Jerry is still there. I can hear him, you can hear him (points to Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann, and Mickey Hart). It’s an incontrovertible fact, he is still with us.”
The show is on May 7, 2009 at the Pepsi Center in Denver. Tickets are on sale now. So if you haven’t gotten yours yet, good luck.
