‘The girls’ get together near Granby
July 8, 2008
Female alpacas, or “the girls,” huddle around Linda Dewey of the Lonesome Stone Natural Fiber Mill Yarn and Alpacas on Monday for an afternoon snack. The farm, on County Road 60 near Granby, hosts 108 adult alpacas and 13 newborns, or crias, with another 20 on the way. Alpacas were sheered in early June, and the mill and its workers are now in the process of turning the fiber into beautifully dyed yarns. The farm is available for tours, and the Lonesome Stone store is open to the public.
