U.S. Forest Service closes Grand County campgrounds for tree removal work

New maps have been posted for Campground Hazard Tree Removal Projects, the Shadow Mountain Forest Health Project, the Trail Creek Forest Health Project, and Opportunities and Closures in the Upper Fraser Area on the U.S. Forest Service’s updated Web site on beetle treatments and closures on the Sulphur Ranger District: http://www.fs.fed.us/r2/arnf/conditions/srdbarkbeetle/logging-fuelreduction.shtml.

The following closures are still in place:

In the Arapaho National Recreation Area, Arapaho Bay Campground’s Roaring Fork and Moraine Loops

Green Ridge Campground Loop B and the Dam Creek Road

Green Ridge Trail from Shadow Mountain Village to the Green Ridge Boat launch (please note that the Shadow Mountain Picnic Area remains open). Pine Beach Picnic Area is closed.

In the Winter Park and Fraser Area the following campgrounds, picnic areas and trails are closed for hazard tree removal: Jim Creek Campground; Discovery Trail.

Logging operations in the Upper Fraser Valley continue. Heavy logging traffic should be expected on Forest Service Road 160, Forest Service Road 159 and Crooked Creek Road.
