Victim in Rocky Mountain National Park accident was part-time Grand Laker

Connie “CJ” Fanning, 55, of Arvada and Grand Lake died April 28 in Rocky Mountain National Park in a motor vehicle accident that resulted in a car fire.

Investigators have not yet released details on the cause of the accident.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, May 7, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4500 Wadsworth Boulevard, Wheat Ridge.

Fanning, who was an emergency-room nurse at Granby Medical Center, is survived by husband Dennis Fanning, son Mark and daughter-in-law Nancy Fanning, parents Raymond and Irene Florine, sister Judy Meier, brother Gerald Florine and nephew Scott Meier. She is also survived by three grandchildren, two great nieces, numerous other relatives and many beloved friends.

Fanning and husband Dennis shared time between their Grand Lake home and their home in the Denver area over the past 10 years, with intentions of retiring in Grand County in the near future, according to Dennis’ sister Carol Fanning.

In lieu of flowers, the Fanning family is asking that contributions be made to “Barbara Davis Foundation for Diabetes,” sent in care of Fanning, 9742 W. 67th Place, Arvada, CO 80004
