W. Colorado wildfire grows to 1,200 acres

NEW CASTLE, Colo. (AP) – A wildfire burning in Colorado’s White River National Forest has grown to about 1,200 acres.

The eight miles northwest of New Castle in western Colorado isn’t threatening any structures or private property. About 90 people are at the scene, but the fire is being allowed to burn in some areas to clear out vegetation and improve wildlife habitat.
