Winter Park Reruns: Spring 2009 is a look back for Grand Theatre Company

The Grand Theatre Company in Winter Park is opening two spring shows in February. The first, I Love You, Youre Perfect, Now Change, opens tonight, Feb. 6. The second, Best of the Best, opens Feb. 26.When picking its Spring 2009 lineup, company owners Kimberlee and Tanny Nanda asked their sponsors and patrons for a list of favorite shows from the 37 productions staged in the past four years. They received a variety of responses, but, hands-down, the winner was a show that helped start it all.Everyone asked for I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change. And the Nandas listened.The Nandas guarantee to have audiences laughing with this musical, a fast-paced comedy that jabs at all aspects of love, relationships and marriage. The tale has something for anyone who has loved or lost.This show is pure entertainment, Tanny said, with a script that never misses a beat. From the downright hilarious to the touching moments, the show is for a lack of a better word, perfect.Written by Joe DiPietro with music by Jimmy Roberts, the jokes are fresh and the music is contemporary. What makes this show so great, he said, is that it is set in modern times, with characters dealing with modern issues. The theatre company rates it mature for language and adult themes.Cast includes the Nandas, as well as Melanie Horton and Randel Davis.Favorite-show runner-up is the companys second spring offering: Best of the Best! Tanny said this show lives up to its title, presenting the best songs and scenes from The Grand Theatre Company’s long lineup. The cast will be presenting numbers like Golf the Musical, Hank Williams: The Lost Highway, All in the Timing, Little by Little, Secrets Every Smart Traveler Should Know, A Year With Frog and Toad, Schoolhouse Rock Live!, Cabaret, How I Became a Pirate, Romantic Fools, The James Taylor/Carol King Tribute, and Honky Tonk Laundry. The company rates this show “PG.”I Love You, Youre Perfect, Now Change runs Thursdays through Saturdays until March 21. Best of the Best opens Feb. 26 and runs in rotation with Perfect through March 20. Groups of 10 or more get $12 tickets.
