Winter Park Resort hosts demo days, Chef’s Cup

Two popular events are scheduled for Dec. 3 at Winter Park Resort. Starting with 8:30 a.m. registration, the Ski and Snowboard Demo Fest will feature the latest and greatest in the industry for guests to experience firsthand on the mountain. Then at 7 p.m., Winter Park Resort Competition Center will host a benefit at the 29th Annual Chef’s Cup: A Taste of Grand County, where a silent auction will be the highlight of the evening with proceeds going to the Winter Park Ski and Snowboard Education Foundation. Ski and Snowboard Demo FestThis years’ Ski & Snowboard Demo Fest is a one-day event featuring some of the best manufacturers in the industry, giving you a chance to try their new equipment for the 2011-2012 season. A variety of manufacturers will be on-hand to introduce guests to new products. This is a free demo located at the base of the Zephyr Express lift.To participate, participants must be 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license, or under 18 with parental consent. Registration is from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., and all participants must register in order to demo equipment. For more details contact Guest Services at 970-726-1564. Demos can be taken out in 1-hour increments only, and 2:30 p.m. is the cut-off for the last demo.Companies participating include Fortitude, Head, Icelantic, K2 Skis, Liberty Skis, Ramp Sports, Salomon, Vertical Skis, Flow, K2 Snowboards and Never Summer. The 29th Annual Chef’s Cup: Taste of Grand CountyDinner, dance, and a benefit for the Winter Park Ski and Snowboard Education Foundation, supporting Winter Park Competition Center athletes will be held at 7 p.m. on Dec. 3, at Winter Park Resort’s West Portal Station. Come and join in the celebration of a “Taste of Grand County.” Grand County’s finest restaurants will donate time and talent in preparing culinary specialties for all attendees to savor and vote for favorite gourmet creations. Sip complimentary wine and beer from Robert Mondavi and Mary Jane Ale, then liven up and dance the night away to the music of a live DJ. To top off the evening, guests will have the opportunity to support the Winter Park Ski Education Foundation by bidding on silent-auction items donated by supporters. Early bidding on items in the silent auction will be held from 12-4 p.m. in the Balcony House. The auction reopens at 7 p.m. in the West Portal Station, and closes at 9:10 p.m.Tickets can be purchased at the Competition Center in Winter Park Resort’s Balcony House. Ticket prices are $60 for one guest; $100 for two guests and $70 each person at the door. Tickets also are available at the Winter Park/Fraser Valley Chamber of Commerce. Specials on lodging and childcare are available to those attending Chef’s Cup.
