The old Idlewild Ski Lodge in Winter Park will not be burned down this Saturday after all.

In Wednesday’s article, it was reported that the lodge was going to be burned down to clear the land for development. The East Grand County Fire Department had planned to oversee to burning and demolition of the building.

However, in an e-mail received by the newspaper Thursday afternoon, Chief Todd Holzwarth of the East Grand County Fire Protection District announced the burning has been postponed.

“Per a request from the Idlewild LLC owners, we are postponing the planned August 2nd Saturday morning burn,” Holzwarth stated. “No replacement date is scheduled.”

Regis Dahl of Idlewild LLC explained the decision to delay the burn was for “administrative reasons.”

“We decided to postpone the burn to further coordinate it with all the entities involved, including the town, fire department and chamber of commerce,” he said.
