In the spotlight | 2018 Best art gallery: Studio 8369
October 26, 2018
Grand Lake's art scene is vibrant but amongst all the shops and galleries in one of Colorado's most picturesque mountain towns one place in particular sticks out to the readers of Sky-Hi News, Studio 8369.
Studio 8369 is a fine art gallery located right on Grand Avenue on the town's historic boardwalk. The studio, owned by husband and wife team Keith and Laura Kratz, is an upscale establishment featuring fine art, rustic home décor pieces created by local artisans, sculptures, photography and more. Over 70 different artists are represented in Studio 8369 and according to co-owner Laura Kratz pieces from new artists are brought in regularly.
It was that commitment to an expansive collection of art covering a range of personal tastes that helps set Studio 8369 apart from other galleries, that and the quality of the artwork offered.
"We represent professional working artists," Laura Kratz said. "That is the biggest key. We are looking for artists who have enough time to dedicate themselves and elevate their art to a certain level."
Kratz said visitors to the gallery have compared Studio 8369 to other high-end galleries in places such as Vail and Santa Fe. Unlike many other fine art galleries though the atmosphere at Studio 8369 is warm, inviting and approachable, even to individuals with little knowledge of the fine art world.
The Kratz' themselves also produce their own artwork that is displayed at Studio 8369. Keith Kratz' photography work can be found amongst the shop's various offerings while paintings produced by Laura Kratz are also on display.
