Ready to hit some rapids while also supporting your local candidates? Please join Matt Solomon, Republican candidate for Senate District 8, and Kremmling resident David Buckley, Republican candidate for House District 13, for the most non-political, political support event in Colorado. Solomon and Buckley invite the public to get to know them at “Raft for a Reason” on Friday, June 17. The candidates will guide participants on a raft trip down the Upper Colorado River, through the most scenic parts of Grand County. The event is not only a way to meet the candidates, but also to learn about the Colorado River, a precious natural resource the candidates are trying to protect.
Both morning and afternoon trips are available. The morning trip will begin at 9:00 a.m. A safety talk is at 9:30, and launch will be at 10:00 a.m. The afternoon trip will be offered at 2:00 p.m., after the morning guests have been shuttled back to Pumphouse. A take-out lunch will be offered for both groups, courtesy of Mo’s BBQ. During lunch, the candidates will hold a Q&A session. If you’re unable to participate in the rafting trips, you can still attend just the lunch to have some time with the candidates. You can also BYOB-bring your own boat, kayak, or raft.
Timberline Tours will provide shuttles to take everyone back to their vehicles at the Pumphouse Campground at the end of the trips. The cost of the event is $50. Suggested contributions are up to $400 to raft with a candidate, or $200 if you BYOB.
Spots are limited; register by visiting SolomonforColorado.com/raft. To RSVP, or if you have any questions, contact Solomon at matt@mattsolomon.co. The US Whitewater Rafting Federation recently endorsed Solomon for Senate.
