WINTER PARK — Hotter N Grits captures a groove and rides it as if it were a powder day. Come and enjoy the ride at Music On The Mall on Friday, July 17, at Cooper Creek Square in downtown Winter Park from 6-8 p.m.

With an eclectic mix of influences, the bad has created a sound that connects with the soul of most audiences. The music embodies American music from all over, but if you cut it with a knife, it would bleed Colorado. The group consists of the following local musicians:

Andy Straus, the leader and a talented singer, songwriter, hip shaking, hot picking, good timing, fun master. His passion for music shows in every note he sings or plays on the guitar.

Jeff McCoy …”The Real McCoy”…. never sits when he plays the keys. His bluesy, mind busting licks come from his feet and pass through a tornado of soul as they fly freely though his fingertips.

Robby Gonzales adds his unique shredding electric guitar style to this group. If this band was a cake, he’d be rock and roll icing with jazzy chocolate sprinkles and the strawberry jam drizzle. Strawberries jam and jazzy chocolate sprinkles! That’s some sexy music.

Jim Hanson and his thundering bass gets you feeling like its gonna rain … rain funky grooves!

And Scotty Hicks, the backbone of this rhythm section. His versatility and endurance on the old ratta tat tat drum kit make this band becomes rock solid.

Music On The Mall is a summer concert series held every Friday through Sept. 4 from 6-8 p.m. at Cooper Creek Square in downtown Winter Park. The series is free and open to all ages. For more information go to or call 970-726-8891.
