The third annual “Historical Holiday Celebration” takes place at Grand Lake’s Kauffman House Museum on Dec. 26. This fundraiser is sponsored by the Grand Lake Area Historical Society to help restore the Smith Eslick Cottage Court and re-purpose it as an engaging and unusual interactive museum.

The setting for the evening is the Kauffman House, a restored rustic Victorian hotel, festively decorated and kerosene lamp and candle-lit for the occasion. Admission includes three hours of authentic olde-timey music, fabulous food and adult beverages.

Just like in the old days, this is a sort-of “potluck,” with lots of special food provided by local restaurants and adult beverages provided by local businesses. Featured will be Blue Water Bakery’s mini-quiche and chocolate dessert bites, Sagebrush Grill’s wild game sausage and dipping sauce, EGs’ salmon and chicken canapés, The Rapids’ incredible deviled eggs, desserts from Sloopy’s and Betty’s, trays of appetizers from Mountain Food Market and Circle 3, and much, much more.

Wines are donated this year by Gateway Inn, Grand Lake Wine and Spirits, Pancho & Lefty’s, Grand Pizza, Mountain Lake Properties and The Rapids, and coffees are provided by The Hub.

This is always a fun, festive, relaxing party. You might want to come for dinner before the Melodrama at the Grand Lake Community House, or just come to relax and enjoy someone else’s cooking the day after Christmas.
