Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre kicks off its 2014 season with the smash hit Les Miserables Friday and Saturday, June 13 and June 14. The Tony Award-winning musical tells an epic tale of passion and redemption, following the repentant prisoner Jean Valjean as he is pursued by Inspector Javert through 19th Century France. With a large cast of 28 actors, elaborate staging and spectacular costumes, Les Miz is one of the biggest productions to ever hit the Rocky Mountain Repertory stage.

Directed by Artistic Associate Jeff Duke, with musical direction by Artistic Director Michael Querio, Les Miz stars newcomer J. Michael Finley as Jean Valjean, and longtime-RMRT favorites Travis Taylor (Javert) and Kristin O’Connell (Fantine).

Every year around 1,500 professional actors audition for the repertory theatre in Chicago, St. Louis, Memphis and Denver. Many actors who debut at Rocky Mountain Rep. go on to successful careers on Broadway and beyond. Currently five alums are starring on Broadway — Abby Mueller (Kinky Boots), Jim Schubin (The Fantastics), Joe Carroll (Cinderella), Dylan Paul (Cabaret) and Andrew Kao (Aladdin).

Les Miz has garnered over 50 major theatre awards, including eight Tony Awards and a Grammy. The 2013 movie won three Oscars at the 85th Annual Academy Awards. The musical score includes well-known songs including “I Dreamed a Dream,” “On My Own,” “Stars,” “Bring Him Home,” “Do You Hear the People Sing?,” “One Day More,” “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables,” “Master of the House” and many more.
