Students turn stage into courtroom drama

KREMMLING — “The Jury” is an emotionally charged courtroom drama that has been performed hundreds of times around the world on stage, in movies, and on TV, with varying story lines.

The script for this presentation was adapted from the 1954 play, “12 Angry Men,” by Reginald Rose. Last year alone “12 Angry Men” played in New York, London, San Diego, and at the prestigious Pasadena Playhouse. This 90-minute drama has a complex two-act script with diverse and strict roles that present a challenge for each performer.

Although audience members may be familiar with the “lone juror holding out” storyline, they’ll thoroughly enjoy watching each of the cast members as they craft their unique characters. The intense script and provocative ending is not one that will soon be forgotten, said director Ken Anderson.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, and Saturday, Feb. 15, at the West Grand High School auditorium. Both performances are free to the public.

Performing in the presentation are Joanna Parker-Raecke, Jordan Stevens, Jackie Adams, Hayley Rohr, Rebecca Dillon, Thomas O’Neill, Mykaela Jones, Austin Gregory, Natalia Dell, Samantha Miller, Madi Schroeder, J.J. Foster, Dustin Sanchez, Morgan Jones, and Jerrica Jones.

“The Jury” was adapted for the West Grand stage by locals Anderson, who has performed in, written, and directed theatrical productions longer than 40 years, and by Dan Bowerly, the music teacher and drama coach at the West Grand School District.
