Few places on earth offer more easily accessible natural beauty than Grand County. From Berthoud Pass to Gore Canyon, from the gates of Rocky Mountain National Park to the mesas surrounding Wolford Mountain Reservoir, Grand County provides a proverbial cornucopia of scenic imagery.

The members of Grand County’s Alpenglow Camera Club know all about the breathtaking beauty and incredible natural wonders that fill this region. Now local residents have a free opportunity to check out some of the best works from the club’s photographers as the Alpenglow Camera Club Photo Show opens for public viewing.

The Alpenglow Camera Club Photo Show opened to the public last week and will remain open through the end of March. The Photo Show is being held in the Community Meeting Room of the Granby Library, located at 55 Zero Street. The Photo Show is open to the public during regular library hours when the room is not otherwise reserved.

An Artists Reception event for the Photo Show will be held 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3.

According to Alpenglow Club President Gary Piper a total of seven members of the Alpenglow Camera Club have works on display for the show. Piper said club members were encouraged to pick out their own best works for presentation. This is the first photo show put on by the Camera Club that hopes to expand awareness of their organization and hopefully entice new members to join.

Initially formed in 2013 the Alpenglow Camera Club currently has around 50 members.

“The Club is open to anyone from those who want to learn about photography to professionals and everyone in between,” said Piper.

The Alpenglow Camera Club meets on the first Wednesday of each month. Club meetings are divided into a speaking/presentation segment and a small group discussion segment during which Club members discuss various photography related issues such as photocomposition or proper light setting.

Find more information about the Alpenglow Camera Club on their Facebook page. Anyone interested in joining the club can contact Gary Piper at 970-531-3988 or Club Vice President Michael Long at 970-688-1403.
