Smokin’ Moe’s Ribhouse and Saloon under new ownership

Sky-Hi News Staff

It was June of 1996 when Dan Cormican first went to work as general manager of Smokin’ Moe’s Ribhouse and Saloon in Winter Park.

Three years later Cormican bought into the venture.

Now, almost 17 years since becoming a partner, Cormican has taken sole ownership of the classic Winter Park barbecue joint.

“The time was right for me to take on full ownership of the restaurant,” Cormican said in a press release. “This is the perfect opportunity for me to move forward with some new ideas for Smokin’ Moe’s Ribhouse and Saloon.”

Cormican has made some big additions to Smokin’ Moe’s menu.

The restaurant now has a new burger menu and an improved salad bar.

“We specialize in barbecue and ribs, but we are expanding options with some hearty, top-quality steaks served as affordably as possible,” Cormican said

Smokin’ Moe’s also serves a variety of fresh-baked breads and new house-made menu items including a Reuben made with house-smoked corn beef and seasonal wild game sausage.

“We’re kicking it up a notch or two after staying dormant for eight to ten years,” Cormican said.

For diners seeking something out of the ordinary, keep an eye out for the Smokin’ Moe’s Mostly Adult Grilled Cheese, made with tomatoes, sautéed onions and four cheeses on artisan sourdough bread or the Turducken burger, made with turkey, duck and chicken.

Keep an eye out for midweek specials in the near future.

Smokin’ Moe’s has undergone some physical changes as well.

Cormican has redone the restaurant’s restrooms and completed some cosmetic improvements in the front of the house, he said.

Smokin’ Moe’s continues to be available for event catering both in house and off site, Cormican said, adding that the restaurant’s staff is courteous and experienced.

Smokin’ Moe’s is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily in Cooper Creek Square in Winter Park.
