In the spotlight | 2018 Best rafting company: MAD Adventures

When visitors come to Grand County, they often come to explore the beautiful landscape in all its forms, from the mountains to the rivers. Experiencing that natural beauty in fun and exciting ways is what Mad Adventures is all about.

“Mother Nature provides the product and we provide the service and we have something pretty special to work with so it’s pretty unique,” owner Ryan Barwick said.

Mad Adventures, which has been open since 1984 in Kremmling, strives to offer family-friendly experiences year-round so that guests can enjoy all the county has to offer.

Guests can choose from a variety of rafting trips or off-road ATV trips.

The outfitter is especially known for its Upper Colorado River half-day rafting trip, which has a large following. Barwick said they often see the same groups requesting the same guides each year.

He also knows that the guides make the outfitter, since they provide knowledge of the area and activities, strong customer service and work to build connections with their guests.

“So much of what we do comes down to the individual guide and the connection they make with their customers and it’s really an area of importance for us and something that I like to believe is that we do a pretty good job with,” Barwick said. “We have a lot of repeat groups and people who are really loyal to us. We have one group every year that actually requests the same bus driver and try to book on her birthday.”
