In October 2012, Flight for Life Colorado celebrated its 40th Anniversary of continuous service to the State of Colorado and the surrounding region. The 2012 Snowmobile for Life Poker Run kicked off nearly a year of celebration for that momentous event. Leslie Strate, president of St. Anthony Health Foundation says, “Our partnership with Trailblazers and Mile-Hi Snowmobile Clubs exemplifies the importance of community support for the nonprofit Flight For Life Colorado. Proceeds from the long-standing Snowmobile For Life Poker Run have supported equipment needs such as helicopter night-vision goggles, neonate isolettes to transport the smallest of babies, and a state-of-the-art communication system at the new St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood.

Proceeds from the 2013 event will support Flight For Life Colorado’s new high-altitude helicopter — a Eurocopter AS 350B3E!”

This new helicopter will have 20 percent more horsepower than the model used now, and will dramatically improve Flight for Life Colorado’s ability to make high-altitude rescues that get patients to a hospital for intensive care and treatment with minimum delay.

For 40 years, Flight for Life Colorado has been dedicated to transporting any patient in need, regardless of the patient’s ability to pay or insurance status. The program now serves a nine-state region, and has transported more than 110,000 seriously ill and injured patients to the most appropriate hospital for medical care. Each year, flight teams provide more than $4 million in charity and uncompensated care. This could not be done without support from the community.
