Two more fishermen rescued after getting stranded on lake; ice melt creating treacherous conditions

Emergency crews rescued a second group of people after they found themselves stuck on Lake Granby Friday night.

At around 10 p.m. Friday, two men and their snowmobiles ended up stranded  on Lake Granby while ice fishing when slushy ice made it difficult to return to shore.

The Grand County Sheriff’s Office, Grand Lake Fire and Grand County EMS responded to the scene and were able to get the men safely to shore by 1:30 a.m.

According to Lt. Dan Mayer, spokesperson for the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, the two men were treated for hypothermia and exposure related issues.

Earlier Friday morning, emergency crews responded to two fishermen stranded at Williams Fork Reservoir because of unstable ice conditions.

Officials are warning people to stay off the lakes because of melting surfaces or exercise extreme caution and stay close to the shore.
