2012 Run the Ranches trail run series

Grand County, CO Colorado

The third annual Run the Ranches trail run series has wrapped up for the year. Amongst the golden aspen, trail runners competed for prizes and bragging rights. “This is no easy feat” claims Maura McKnight, Executive Director for Headwaters Trails Alliance, the beneficiary of the series. “These are fairly lengthy runs, some with steep inclines.”

The series this year had a wide range of ages, from toddlers running in the Fun Run to seniors running the long-distance run and even a soon-to-be mom. “It was great seeing her with her belly crossing the finish line after the 8 mile run with a big smile on her face,” said McKnight.

The series provides much needed funding for local trails. This year’s series only included two runs because one of the ranches had to pull out at the last minute. Yet, over $3,000 was raised for Grand County trails.

“It is a great event and we are deeply thankful to our host ranches who make the series possible” added McKnight.
