After much planning and many volunteer hours the 4 Bar 4 Ranch is prepped to survive its 121st Fraser Valley winter.

This initial phase included removal of deteriorated logs, appliances and other articles from the buildings and site. Reusable materials were labelled, removed and stored for re-use in the restoration process. Much of the unusable materials, mostly wood, has been stored for alternate use, such as frames or pieces of the 4 Bar 4 wood with the original cattle brand burned in. With the site cleaned, the focus turned to prepping the barn and hotel for winter.

The roofs have been removed from both buildings and unstable logs and planks were removed from the walls and floors. All inside walls were removed from the upper level of the hotel. Support beams were placed in and outside of the buildings to lessen the burden of the snow, water drainage management was addressed and tarps are now fastened in place. With that, the 4 Bar 4 is put to bed for the winter.

HFI (Historic Fraser, Inc) applied for a grant from the Colorado State Historical Fund in the amount of $192,953 which comes with a 25 percent match requirement which is $64,317.

With the support of friends in the Fraser Valley, around Colorado and from out of state, HFI is currently at 80 percent of our matching fund goal, with only $12,000 needed to reach the full goal.
