51-year-old woman injured in snowmobile accident near Fraser

Responders work to get a Denver woman into the ambulance for advanced care after a snowmobile accident Monday near Fraser.

A Denver woman hit a tree and sustained serious chest injuries in a snowmobile accident Monday west of Fraser.

The 51-year-old woman was near Crooked Creek Road, County Road 50, when a left hand turn went wrong, according to a Facebook post from Grand County Search and Rescue.

The woman slid down an embankment and struck a tree, causing serious injuries.

Grand County Search and Rescue, Grand County Emergency Medical Services and the Grand County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident. The woman was put in a vacuum splint and moved to the trailhead about an hour after the accident was reported.

The woman was transported via Flight For Life to hospital care. She was airborne for Denver in less than two hours, according to the post.
