6 candidates vie for 3 seats in Fraser

The deadline to file nomination petitions for the April municipal elections passed on Friday, March 5. Fraser and Winter Park will have contested elections.

In Winter Park, six people are running for five seats on town council: Jimmy Lahrman, Mike Periolat, Vince Turner, Barbara Atwater, Katie Riemenschneider and Charles Banks.

In the Town of Fraser, six candidates have filed for three open seats: Philip Naill, Kim Linin, Dave Pratt, Steve Sumrall, Vesta Shapiro and Peggy Smith.

The Town of Grand Lake has three board of trustee seats open, but as of the deadline Friday, only two nomination petitions had been turned in – from incumbents Jim Peterson and Tom Weydert.

The Hot Sulphur and Kremmling seats are uncontested, with all the incumbents running again, and elections may be canceled. Granby did report its candidates in time for publication.

Municipal elections will be held in Fraser and Winter Park on April 6.

The Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation District canceled its elections when it received only three petitions for three open seats, including John Glancey, Dan O’Connell and Andrew Chasin.

Pete Strohecker and Beth Sands chose not to run for re-election.
