8 Winter Park athletes named to U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association’s Rocky Mountain Division team

Fifty snow sports athletes from across Colorado were formally designated as the new all-star team for the US Ski and Snowboard Association’s Rocky Mountain Division.

A group of eight young athletes who call Winter Park Resort their home mountain have been recognized as all-stars by the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association.

On Wednesday a list of 50 snow sports athletes from across Colorado were formally designated as the new all-star team for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association’s Rocky Mountain Division.

“These promising young athletes compete on the local, national and international level in pursuit of their US Ski Team and Olympic dreams,” stated officials from Colorado Ski Country USA, an industry trade association.



All of the Winter Park Resort athletes who made the all-star team this year are members of the Winter Park Competition Center. Those eight athletes are: Chase Allen, Karsten Barndt, Kane Darrah, Peter Goldy, Jackson Harvey, Carter McQuinn, George McQuinn and Tanner Murphy. The all-star team consists of 30 alpine skiers and 20 freestyle skiers though all eight of the Winter Park Competition Center athletes who made the team are freestyle skiers.

“We have a very special group of all-stars this year,” Laurie Mooney, freestyle and freeskiing program manager for the Competition Center, said. “It is amazing to see the quality we have here in our program and our region.”
