Accident involving semitrailer in Byers Canyon sends at least 2 people to the hospital
On the morning of Monday, Dec. 9, a Honda Accord and a semitrailer collided in Byers Canyon on U.S. Highway 40.
The collision occurred at about 9:32 a.m. on a sharp curve at mile post 200, near the entrance to the town of Hot Sulphur Springs. According to Colorado State Patrol, the occupants of the Honda were transported to the hospital.
Both lanes were shut down for a little over an hour before a single lane reopened with alternating traffic. The Grand County Sheriff’s Office, Grand County EMS and Hot Sulphur Springs Parshall Fire Protection District responded to assist state patrol.
