A two-car injury accident west of Parshall, Colorado, on Tuesday afternoon closed U.S. Highway 40 for about an hour as authorities sorted through and cleared the wreck.

According to Colorado State Patrol Trooper Greg Moses, a car turning onto the highway from County Road 21 was struck by a westbound motorist. The driver of the car entering the highway suffered injuries, Moses said, though he did not know how serious they were.

The driver was transported to Kremmling Memorial Hospital and from there to a Denver hospital, he said.

Moses said it is unclear whether any citations will be issued as the accident was still under investigation.

The accident occurred at about 4:20 p.m., blocking U.S. Highway 40 for about one hour, he said.
