Another Colorado county weighs medical pot moratorium
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) – El Paso County is joining a growing list of local governments in Colorado that are considering a moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries.
The county commissioners will discuss Thursday whether to impose a moratorium in unincorporated areas or offer temporary permits for dispensaries in certain areas.
Commissioners say they want to see whether the Legislature will clear up uncertainty surrounding a 2000 voter-approved constitutional amendment allowing marijuana use for medical reasons.
The Legislature next meets in January.
Moratoriums have also been discussed or imposed in Fort Collins, Grand Junction, Longmont, Loveland, Pueblo and other cities and in several other counties.
