A Kremmling apartment complex is a total loss following a fire that broke out Wednesday.

The Kremmling Fire Department responded to a fire at an apartment building behind the Grand Old West Restaurant in Kremmling at around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The fire started in an apartment attached to the rear of the Grand Old West, located at 106 Park Ave., and quickly spread to two other apartments, according to Kremmling Police Chief Scott Spade.

The apartment complex was destroyed in the blaze, displacing six individuals in the process. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is currently looking into the cause of the fire. There were no injuries reported.

“The apartments will not be occupiable again,” Spade said.

It took firefighters about six-and-a-half hours to kill the fire, and while the flames touched no other buildings, the Grand Old West Hotel and Bank of the West across the alley both suffered smoke damage.
