Armed man leads police in 100 mph pursuit

A man was taken into custody Saturday evening after leading local police on a 100 mph pursuit, according to local law enforcement.

A man was taken into custody Saturday evening after leading local police on a 100 mph pursuit, according to local law enforcement.

At about 4:25 p.m., deputies with the Grand County Sheriff’s Office spotted a man with an active warrant and attempted to stop him while traveling on Highway 40 west of Granby. According to police, the man increased his vehicle’s speed to over 100 mph. He crashed his vehicle and fled on foot.

Deputies negotiated with the man, who was armed, for almost two hours before surrendering and being taken into custody.

Both lanes of Highway 40 were shutdown west of Granby during the incident, and reopened shortly after 7 p.m.
