Artist donates paintings of Colorado 14ers to help get kids outdoors

Former Grand County resident and watercolor painter Mike Wilson generously donated his 14ers series of paintings for a good cause. The Cottonwood Institute now has Wilson’s original paintings of 53 of Colorado’s 14ers. The institute connects middle school and high school students to outdoors opportunities and environmental education.
Each time a person purchases a print of the original, the institute receives this money to fund student programs.
The prints are also currently hanging in the Denver International Airport through the end of September. The institute is considering exhibiting Wilson’s originals throughout the state.
Recently, Wilson participated in Fraser’s Plein Air @ Altitude event, held by the Fraser Valley Arts. Through the month of August, he painted several of Grand County’s most beautiful locations.
