As much as a foot of snow expected in Winter Park area overnight

Sky-Hi Staff Report
Winter Park, CO Colorado

The National Weather Service is calling for more than a foot of snow in the high mountains around Granby overnight Friday. According to the forecast discussion posted around 10:30 a.m. Friday, forecasters “have upgraded high mountain zones to a winter storm warning for later this afternoon through Saturday morning.”

The discussion continues: “Given latest trends and observations upstream, feel higher mountains may end up with and excess of a foot of snow …Think that along with the jet, the stronger orographics will produce a good dump of snow in the mountains. “

The weekend’s mountain town activities include Breakfast with Santa Saturday morning at Cooper Creek Square in Winter Park and also at the Bear’s Den in Grand Lake; pictures with Santa at Granby Specialty Clinic and Ace Country Hardware; Tommelfest at Devil’s Thumb near Tabernash all day Saturday; Demofest all day Saturday and Sunday at Winter Park Resort; and the Grand Chorale Christmas Show Saturday night at the YMCA near Granby.
