Aspen residents upset over new reality TV show

ASPEN, Colo. (AP) – Some Aspen residents are so upset over a new reality show filmed there that they’re questioning why the show was given filming permits.
City officials insist that they don’t review content before approving filming permits, and that the crew of VH-1’s show “Secrets of Aspen” met requirements.
The show premiered Sunday and shows Aspen women partying, shopping and bickering over men. Some Aspen residents say the show puts the ritzy resort in a bad light and that the show should not have been given permission to film.
Aspen city spokeswoman Sally Spaulding say the show has contributed more than $700,000 to the local economy so far through such expenditures as car and equipment rentals and catering.
